Licensing question

Post by shannonadams68 »

I have two servers both with one quad core processor each and both with internal RAID 10 SATA drives. Both run ESX Foundation. I plan to run Veeam Backup and Replication to replicate back and forth between the two servers. I.e., four total VM's = will run two on each server and replicate back and forth. If one server fails, the other server will run all four VMs. What type of Veeam license do I need to purchase? A license for a single socket, or 4 CPUs, etc.? Thanks.

You will need 2 licenses, since you have 2 physical sockets to license: 1 socket on each host. VM or core counts do not matter.

If I just replicated from the primary server to the failover/standby server, would I need to just one license?
