log shipping server connection to repository

Do The log shipping server need a direct connection to the backup repository?
I have a repository composed by a windows server with an iscsi LUN.
If I wish to use a log shipping server that do not see the iscsi lun directly, how this shipping server can write into the repository?

Through the Windows server to which repository server role is assigned. All communication with the actual storage is done through/by the data mover component installed on repository server.
