long-running Veeam-console sessions start consuming CPU on SQL-server

Post by Microid »

We are using Veeam B&R via console sessions initiated from management-servers. We have now noticed that after some time, the leftopen consoles start taking huge amount of CPU on the server that hosts B&R's SQL database. For example this morning the B&R was unusably slow and after investigating a while, I discovered that SQL server hosting B&R's database was 100% on CPU.

Then after I ran "get-process veeam.backup.shell | stop-process -force" on our management-servers, the CPU on the SQL server dropped from 80-100% to 0-20% !

I have noticed this behavior earlier, but now I managed to prove the causal connection on hand.

I tried to analyze the expensive SQL queries on the SQL server, but I did not find anything curious. But then again, I'm not a SQL specialist at all. :)

Anyone else seen this behavior?

Hello,

Let's wait for the outcome of the research performed by our support team, it does not look like a known issue. Also, this problem can occur due to different reasons, most likely a specific SQL stored procedure increases CPU consumption but it's not possible to troubleshoot over the forum without logs, SQL traces and perhaps process dumps.

Thanks!
