low space threshold for cloud storage

Post by Danh3 »

Good day

In the Veeam console, under Options -> Notifications, we can set an alert to notify when the free disk space falls below 3%.

Does this setting apply to cloud storage (such as S3-compatible storage)?

I ask because I noticed there is a warning about low cloud storage space during copy jobs though low space for week, but I never receive an email alert for low space rather backup alert. where is the low free disk space threshold settings for cloud storage alerts ?
in veeam console
9:11:12 AM Backup copy for XXX-XXstarted at 8/5/2024 9:11:12 AM
9:17:46 AM Backup location [\XX.XXX] is getting low on free disk space (4.5 TB free of 205 TB).
9:11:12 AM XXX-XX (3.4 GB) processing finished with warning at 8/5/2024 9:17:58 AM: 726.5 MB transferred at 113 MB/s

veeam log

[05.08.2024 09:11:45.076] <01> Info Task total size: 509 GB. Task total used size: 189.3 GB
[05.08.2024 09:17:46.678] <01> Info Checking free space
[05.08.2024 09:17:46.760] <01> Info Backup location [\XXX.XXX] is getting low on free disk space (4.5 TB free of 205 TB).

Does this message trigger when free space drops below 5% to 10% by design?

Is there a way to set a specific threshold for cloud storage in the Veeam console?

thanks

For S3-compatible storage, it must support SOSAPI to report free space available: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
Free space reporting is usually not available for cloud offerings, just for on-prem (if the solution supports SOSAPI, you can find it in the Veeam Ready database here: https://www.veeam.com/partners/alliance ... %5D=sosapi)
