Mails for Scale-out Backup repository do not follow standard subject format.
Hi,
I have a question about the mails that "Veeam Backup and replication" sends out.
Under "General Options", "E-mail settings", I've changed the Subject to have a prefix.
This works for mail reports for standard backups, but, not for Scale-Out backup repositories.
The subject of those mails simply stay default.
I've tested this on a number of differend installations/versions.
Is there a work around I can follow so my scale Out-backup repository mails also follow the mail subject as stated in the options?
(Or is this a bug and should I report this?)
Thanks and best regards!

Hello finalbeta
Welcome to the forum.
No, it's not a bug. There are some reports which don't use the configured subject.
Could you please share your use case why you need prefixes for SOBR notifications?
Thank you very much,
Fabian

Re: Mails for Scale-out Backup repository do not follow standard subject format.
Hi Fabian,
We follow up several differend backup notifications from (many) differend sources/backup software.
As pretty much all backup software can report through E-mail, we use mails.
As I don't want to manualy check mails every day, we have automated this proces.
Mails are picked up and processed by software.
For VEEAM, we added a prefix to the Emails so we had a way to identify the mails as VEEAM reports.
Untill now, all the mails I got for backup related tasks from VEEAM used this prefix.

Re: Mails for Scale-out Backup repository do not follow standard subject format.
I'm now rewriting the message subject in my mail server before it gets to the backup processing software.
For me this is a workable sollution (I think, still testing...).
However, it's still a work around.
I think it would make more sense for this type of notification mail to follow the standard of the other mails.
I don't see why these mails would be an exception.

Hello Finalbeta
Thanks for explaining your use case.
I will discuss this topic with my colleagues.
I'm also glad that you found a workaround.
Maybe you can also use different sender addresses for each product and filter mails by the sender address?
Best,
Fabian

That's also a possible work around.
Thanks.
Hope that one day it gets changed in Veeam. But it's not a big issue now.
Best regards.
