Management of backup targets

Post by andi303 »

Hello all,

I'm using iSCSI-targets for the Veeam backups. The NAS is configured for 512 byte block size because of compatibility issues, which means that the iSCSI-disks must not exceed 2TB.
Veeam Backup is missing some mechanism for logical organization of physical hard disk drives (e.g. building hard disk groups for backup targets).
Is there any recommended way how to organize hard disk space for one specific backup task? I know, I can just split the backup job into parts, however, this would be somewhat cumbersome and not very smart.
The only solution I can see right now is to use the dynamic disks feature in Windows to span the backup across multiple iSCSI-drives. However, this will reduce portability...

Thanks in advance,
Andreas
