MaxSnapshotsPerDatastore Registry Update

Where is the "MaxSnapshotsPerDatastore" registry update applied? Backup server? Proxy? Can't find it in the documentation.

All registry keys we have are applied on the backup server. This is because some of our components can run on Linux, which does not have a registry in the first place ;)
