Microsoft SQL

Post by AlertSistem »

I need to backup Microsoft SQL server DB everyday for retention of 30 days, that is 30 restore points.
SQL server is a virtual machine and now I'm backing up It the whole VM by enabling Application-Aware Processing
I need to install Veeam agent into vm ?

Hi Mike

No, our Veeam Agent is not required. When you enable this option, the backup server will deploy a small non-persistent runtime component to the virtual machine every time the backup runs. You only have have to provide correct guest os credentials in the job settings.

Optionally you can also use persistent runtime components.

Our documentation explains the entire background process: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... d-machines

Hello,

Additionally, you may want to consider our plug-in for Microsoft SQL Server. This plug-in provides enhanced control over backup and restore operations on the database server side, allowing you to leverage Microsoft SQL Server features such as SQL Server Agent job scheduling for full, differential and T-log backups. In certain scenarios, it could be a beneficial alternative.

Thanks!
