Microsoft Windows 2008 R2
Dear All
I have a few servers running Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 (without SP1). I was wondering which VEEAM version would support the backup of this version of windows. I tried v9.5 U3a but the free version does not allow me to backup any server. Once my trial key expires there is no option to backup. I installed the v9.5 U4b and the community edition helps me to backup the servers but I need to update to SP1 which I cannot do on the other servers. Is there a specific update from SP1 that VEEAM looks for or is there a version that can help me backup without installing SP1.
Thank you

Hi Kaizad,
To clarify, do you need to back up physical or virtual servers?
Thanks

Many thanks for the response.
So my Windows server 2008 R2 is physical.
Also,
I did not want to mix two topics together but I am also looking to backup virtual server which is running on ESXi 4.0.

Unfortunately, neither Windows Server 2008 R2 without SP1 nor ESXi 4.0 are supported by any Veeam versions which are still available for download.
Please note that Veeam never supported physical Windows Server 2008 R2 servers without SP1 for agent-based backups.
Thanks!

Re: Microsoft Windows 2008 R2
Thanks for answering.
Unfortunately, there is no version that officially supports Windows Server 2008 R2. We never supported it due to technical limitations on the OS level and started doing that only for 2008 R2 SP1 with CBT being supported only if a certain CBT-related package is installed. 2008 R2 SP1 is supported by VBR v11.
Regarding ESXi 4.0, I guess it was only supported by v8 which is not available anymore. We do support ESXi 4.1 with VBR 9.5 U3a.
Thanks

Many thanks for the responses.
Which version of VEEAM has stopped supporting Physical Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
Which version of VEEAM has stopped supporting ESXi 4.1
Also for my general knowledge when did VEEAM introduce community edition because 9.5 Update 3a does have a free edition with no features
So there is no way for me to backup VM on ESXi 4.0? even if I use 9.5 update 3a

The latest versions that support Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and ESXi 4.1 are mentioned above - please refer to my previous post. Yes, there is no way to back up ESXi 4.0 with Veeam.

Re: Microsoft Windows 2008 R2
Dear wishr
I just installed the VBR 9.5 U4b and found out that only ESXi 5 and above is supported. When I add a host that has ESXi 4.1.0 installed, I get an error stating "VMware ESX(i) hosts prior to version 5.0 are not supported.
Thank you
