After DR migrate back to main datacenter

Post by steamingPeople »

Hi,

Our customer had an outage at their location and we considering the options of how to bring them back online. Once the original location is back up, is there a solution how to bring the data back over with minimal downtime? I was thinking of setting up replication, I'm wondering if there is a different solution.

What kind of environment is this? vSphere? Would hosts in both locations be in the same vCenter? If yes, you could perform a Shared-Nothing vMotion back to the original location (depending on the bandwidth). Alternatively, you could set up a replication job to replicate to the original location and then perform a permanent failover (make sure to update your backup jobs to point to the new original VM).
