Migrate from old server B&R 9.5 to newone upgraded to 10.0 server

Post by pierardy »

Hi,

I have some configuration in Backup & Replication 9.5 on Server 2019 (1809) for backup/backup copies VMware (esxi and Vcenter) and HyperV (stand alone and Cluster HyperV).
I want migrate my Veeam backup server to newone fresh VM (when 2004 will be available) and install B&R 10.
I have repositories on Synology shares.

Rem. We also use Veeam O365 4.0 but on another VM server.

Could you confirm my upgrade path ?
1) Install Windows when available (2004 with GUI)
2) Backup Configuration (already done daily by Veeam) on old veeam server 9.5
3) Fresh Install VBR 10
4) Restore Configuration from VBR 9.5 ?
5) What about repositories ?

Rem: I use "per-vm" for all repositories

I have somes VBK files for old backup (2019, 2020) for long-term backup on external cloud storage. (iscsi access from VBR server).
It is not repository, just copy/past of VBK files.
I suppose that I never have problem to restore these long-term full backup if required ?

Thanks

Hi Yves, the procedure looks good, your repositories will be picked up after the configuration restore. Answering your second question, yes, you will be able to restore from these standalone backups. Thanks!
