Migrate Veeam server to another
Hello,
Currently, we have Veeam Server on a virtual machine with his database on another virtual machine. I must migrate Veeam on a new physical server.
I found the KB1889 ( https://www.veeam.com/kb1889#migratewconfigbkp ) to help me but I have a question. The new server must have the same name and ip than the old.
It's possible to make the restore backup configuration on the new server with a different server name and ip, shut down the old and after rename and change the ip of the new server without issues ?
Thanks for your help

I'd do it the other way - perform configuration backup, shut down the old server, set up and configure the new server with the required address, and then import configuration.

Re: Migrate Veeam server to another
I'm also wanding about this, but the other way around. I planning on seting up a new server to be VBR with a new name and IP address. Then restore the configuration backup.
So I ask, is it a requirement that the new server has the same name/IP as the old server? Is it in any way better to have the new server with same name and IP as the old server?

Hi Johannes. It is not required. Restoring the configuration backup to the newly configured VBR server with a different name and IP address shouldn't be the issue.
Thanks!
Thanks!

[MERGED] Converting from Windows Server 2008R2 to 2016/2019
Hello!
I am currently in the process of bringing servers up to speed in the modern society.
I have Veeam 9.5 on a 2008R2 server. How do I go about moving it to a slightly more modern Windows server.
Either 2016 or 2019.
Is there a documented process anywhere?
Thank you in advance.

Hi, welcome to the community!
You can initiate configuration backup within Veeam B&R console UI before the migration.
Deploy a new server and restore the configuration.
Please review this thread for additional information.
