Migration from Commvault to Veeam

Post by cedchgr »

Hello Everyone,

Our infrastructure works on VmWare & Commvault for backup.

We're looking forward to move from VmWare to another hypervisor, and maybe from Commvault to another backup system.

Is it possible to convert our Commvault's backup to Veeam ? Is there any solution or tools ?

We do not use tapes for our backup on Commvault.

Thank you for your answers.

Hello cedchgr

Welcome to the forum and thank you for the interest in our products.
Unfortunately it's not possible to "convert/migrate" backups from competitor products to Veeam products. Veeam products cannot export data blocks from Commvaults native backup format.

As a workaround you can restore every Commvault backup as a VM. Then immediately take a backup with a Veeam product of the recovered data/machine.
or just keep both products running site by site until all old backups have retired.

Best,
