Mixed Hyper-V / VMware licensing

Post by LinkeLoe »

Hi,

We currently have a Hyper-V cluster running, that's being backed up with Veeam B&R Enterprise Plus. Lately, we installed a new IP PBX running on an ESXi-host. Would it be possible to purchase additional Veeam licenses for this VMware host and back up the VM's running on that host, using the same Veeam installation, or should I also install an additional backup server?

Keep in mind that the new license key should have the same edition as the original one. Thanks!

Hi both,

Thanks for your quick reply. According to our reseller, it is necessary to install a second server on which Veeam will be configured with the license for VMware. They say that this is because we will get another license file, which cannot be used on the same server, which is using the Hyper-V license file...

Your reseller is not correct in that statement. You can get a license file with both VMware and Hyper-V sockets licensed, and use it on the single B&R server. Thanks!
