Since Linux and Windows use the same codebase in V13, is it possible and supported to run a mixed environment?
Motivation: We currently use a configuration with dedicated backup, enterprise portal, proxy, and repository servers — all Windows systems.
I want to gradually migrate this environment to VSA (or linux servers because of fc attached storage for repo).
Finally, I want to switch the Windows backup server to VSA and PostgreSQL.

Re: Mixed setup in V13 possible
Hi Stefan
You mean sharing components between two backup servers? Just to clarify — this has never been supported, even though it is technically possible.
It should still work for “bring your own Windows/Linux” machines (with the known limitations), but because it's not supported, we haven't tested it.
In that case, you could build a new backup server based on the Veeam Software Appliance (VSA), add your repositories and proxies, and start fresh with new jobs.
Once you’ve created initial backups for all your workloads, reconnect the old repositories from your Windows server to the Linux-based backup server and import existing backups for restore purposes.
If your environment is too complex to start from scratch, you might instead convert to the Veeam Software Appliance (VSA) using the configuration backup.
More details about this process are available in our FAQ.
Best,
Fabian

If you’re referring to Enterprise Manager, you can use a single deployment to connect both backup servers (windows and linux based) to it.Enterprise Portal
It sounds like you’re planning to migrate everything from Windows to Linux. We currently use a configuration with dedicated backup, enterprise portal, proxy, and repository servers — all Windows systems.
