Monitoring Veeam Server

Post by Kei »

I would like to know best practice of monitoring veeam server.
I am using all-in-one install.(VBR, Proxy server, Repository Server and SQL Server are installed in one virtual machine.)
I am using the bellow function.
- Incremental backup
- Scale out backup repository

Please advise me what point of veeam server should we monitor .

Hi Keita

If you have a third party monitoring software, I suggest to monitor the following:
- veeam services
- MS SQL services
- disk space
- CPU / Memory usage
- network reachability (Ping)
Monitoring the backup jobs can be done per mail, per SNMP notifications, PowerShell or if your monitoring software supports RestAPI calls, you can use that also to get the job status from the VBR server.

You can also use our monitoring product Veeam One, which allows you to monitor the backup application (and Hypervisor) itself.
Please see this page for more information:

Hello Keita,

I would recommend you to Install Veeam One like Fabian's advice, you will get everything you need for monitoring, and you can provide the report document as well.

Thanks,

Hello Keita,
Nothing else to recommend than what others have mentioned, Veeam ONE is the best tool for monitoring everything you will need out of your Veeam Infrastructure, I wrote a blog series that covers every single great functionality from the eyes of an End-user, and hope it is interesting for you: some of the screenshots are a bit old, as it was for v10, but the functionality and concepts are the same. Additionally, you can use RESTful API or Enterprise Manager combined with for example PRTG or others.

What license are you currently using? Is it sockets, or VUL, Community?
