Monthly retention on a StoreOnce

Post by lowlander »

Hi,

we want to achieve one month of retention (backing all vms once a day) with a storeonce appliance. Regarding the limitation it reads : The length of backup chains (chains that contain one full backup and a set of subsequent incremental backups) on HPE StoreOnce cannot be greater than 7 restore points. The recommended backup job schedule is the following: not more than 1 incremental backup once a day, not fewer than one full backup (active or synthetic) once a week.

To achieve 1 month of retention, what is best way to accomplish this on a storeonce ?
- 31 restore points and weekly a synthetic full ?
- 31 restore points and weekly an active full ?

Hi, both options will allow you to address said limit. First one will likely be faster with Catalyst, second one will likely be faster when not using Catalyst (but rather SMB share). Thanks!
