Move VBR and Repository to a new server

Post by pls »

We are new to Veeam and have VBR on a physical server and have been testing. We have purchased licenses and want to move the application and repositories to a new production server (physical). I think I know how we would restore the configuration but not sure what to do to have the new server VBR see the backup files to the new server.
Do we
install VBR on new server
create repository folders on new server
move backup files to new server
restore configuration on new server
rescan repositories
Thanks

Hi Phil, in theory, this should work provided local paths are preserved. I'm just not sure if Veeam B&R refers to the relative path in this case or uses the server name as well - in the latter case you would need to map the job to the backup files. We will check this later today or you can do it yourself.

Verified, if you keep the paths the same, everything will be smooth.

Thanks for checking. We have been using Veeam for about 45 days and are very happy with it. Even had to restore a deleted folder yesterday. Took about 5 minutes.
