Moving from VCenter 2.5 to VCenter 4

Post by benwaynet »

I'm moving my ESX servers to a new install of VCenter and in the processing changing to VCenter 4.

Is there anyway to keep my existing jobs with dedupe and just re-point the backup jobs to VCenter 4.

I don't have enough storage on the box with Veeam to start fresh backup jobs pointing at VCenter and keep my old jobs from VCenter 2.5 for a period of time.

thanks,jb

Hello Jason, this is only possible with in-place vCenter upgrade, when vCenter database is kept intact. Unfortunately, with fresh vCenter install it is not possible, because this would reset all unique VM IDs of virtual environment objects, so existing jobs will no longer be able to find the objects they have been configured to process. Thank you.
