MSSQL database backup, monitoring and permissions

Veeam Logoby sandsturm » Thu Aug 24, 2017 1:56 pm

Hi

I am planning to migrate the backup for our MSSQL databases onto veeam. Actually I couldn't answer the following two questions:
- is there somewhere a report where I can see which databases are backed up and which are not, if there were failures? Our database admins want to have such a report...
- what permissions are required in minimum on the sql server/database to be able to backup and restore databases?

thx and regards

1.) You can configure notifications in your backup job where you have enabled the SQL Server transaction log backup - This is under Storage, Advanced. Your DBA will receive a report that looks like this:

2.) Here's a few links from the Veeam HelpCenter that would be useful to you when running SQL backup with Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 (latest version)
[*]Required Permissions - https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/required_permissions.html?ver=95
