Multi Site / Multi Veeam Server links

Post by bigdog »

We are in the middle of a company merger and both parties use Veeam.
One site has a single Veeam v8 Standard server backing up to a NAS over iSCSI.
My side has a main site with a Veeam v9 Enterprise server backing up to local storage, and a remote server running Veeam repository for an off site backup.

If we wanted to backup the new site (Standard) as a secondary backup at our Enterprise site, is that pretty straightforward and is there any particular way i should set the Enterprise site as a repo for the Standard site?
Also, we will be backing up to a NAS box, hopefully over iSCSI or worst case over SMB. Can this be "populated" locally before it gets moved to the Enterprise site to save time on that first massive backup?

Thanks

So, you're planning to add a server running version 9 to a backup console of server running version 8? If so, there would be component versions conflict during initial step (Add Server) and the scenario would not work. Thanks.

So upgrade v8 to v9. I think its new enough that they still have maintenance. Any issues mixing standard & enterprise license servers?

Generally, mixing licenses is not allowed in the same environment, however, since they are in different physical locations this is probably ok. You'd better check with your sales rep on this.

That said, please note that backup servers are unaware of each other, so keep in mind the number of concurrent tasks assigned to servers that are involved in both servers' activities.

And also keep in mind that in this scenario both servers should be patched/updated at the same time, so that component versions conflict doesn't happen. Thanks.
