Multiple backup servers

Post by willymaykett »

Hi,

I am currently looking at implmenting "multiple" backup servers, so far I have installed one server, pointing to a remote (non local) instance of SQL2005 db.
Can I install other backup servers, and then simply point these to the first instance of the SQL db install?

Thanks

Hello, sure. See the existing thread here:

Thanks,

I am a bit confused then.... from what I read in the thread, each server that has an installation of the backup software must run its own db, and therefore doesn't share a common db, although, via regisry changes etc, each server can have its own db on a COMMON sql server.

How does this affect the licensing? Do I simply reuse the same file for each backup instance? IfI have 12 CPU license, do I reuse the same license file?

Joe, that's right you may re-use your license file, as long as total amount source ESX servers sockets is not exceeded across all Veeam Backup servers.
