Multiple Schedules / Different times for each day

Post by mhdganji »

Hi,
Because of our working days and hours and traffic limitations I need some jobs to run in different schedules. For example I like a job to be run

5:00 on Fridays and Saturdays
21:00 on other days of week

But I cannot find this. just one time schedule is available

Is it possible or we should request this feature ?

Thanks

Hi!
That is not possible for now. We will take your feature request into account.
Thanks!

Thanks Shestakov. This is a very useful feature which can help so many people like me a lot. This feature is available in many software who needs scheduling.

That makes sense. We will consider adding the feature in future versions.
Thanks!

Actually with a little creativity it is doable in current version.
Just schedule job to run hourly and permit only 5:00 - 6:00 backup window at Friday and Saturday and 21:00-22:00 all other days.
Make sure that you are using window that is configured via Schedule button near in the Periodically every radiobutton, not in "Terminate job if it exceeds allowed backup window".
If you will select the one under Schedule, the job will start only at times you said and continue working even if it will need more than 1 hour, meanwhile if you choose Terminate option, job will be terminated in the case of running more than 1 hour.
Something like that:

Seems to be working. I'll work on it. Thanks
But anyway I think this should be directly available without tricky methods like this

I'd like to +1 this. We have some jobs that are chained together, but we'd like to also ensure that they ALL run at 10pm.

David, are you OK with scripting? If so, it should be quite easy to create and schedule a tiny script that:

- Gets required jobs
- Execute them outside of already assigned schedule

Thanks!

I could probably put something like this together as a workaround, but that removes the single pane of management (as scheduling is now handled in two separate locations), not to mention that it looks like it might somehow lead to double-run jobs, as 'zadrian' mentions here.

If you don't use -StartChainedJobs switch, then, you will avoid double-run. Anyway, consider your vote counted. Thanks!
