Multiple SQL2005 DataBases

Post by FNAJER »

Good afternoon,

For VEEAM 4.0, I am trying to create two VEEAM Backup servers (VEEAM01 and VEEAM02), each pointing to a remote SQL2005 Database. My SQL2005 DB server has a main instance, with multiple subdatabases.

In the installation process, is there are way to point the installer to subdatabases like DBSERVER\INSTANCE\DBVEEAM01 and DBSERVER\INSTANCE\DBVEEAM02?

With kindest regards.

Felix, it has to be different instances for an automated setup. But may be there are manual workarounds, I will need to check on this with devs.

Hi Gostav,

the reason I mention this is because creating separate MS SQL2005 instances is not very elegant. I would prefer creating one dedicated VEEAM instance, and point each VEEAM backup server to a dedicated database inside the VEEAM instance. The Enterprise Management Database could also fit in this VEEAM instance.

The fact that the databases are hardcoded to "VeeamBackup" caused me some non-trivial workarounds.

With kindest regards.
