Multiple user logins for B&R interface

Veeam Logoby skprmark » Thu May 11, 2017 6:14 pm

WE are fairly new to Veeam B&R but it is working great. I am doing replication for a few different people now. A number of them have asked if they can have a login to the B&R to handle their own fail over. I do not want to give them RDP access to the B&R server as they will see all of the jobs running and have access to everything. Is there any current method for allowing access for starting and stopping a fail over routine where the user will only see their routine's and no one else?

Hi skprmark,

There are a few options you can consider.

1) Use Enterprise Manager. If you create a failover plan for the replication, you can use RBAC so they only see their "own" VM's and then they can do the failover themselves
See here: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... tml?ver=95 for failover plan and here for RBAC: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... tml?ver=95

2)You can deploy a VBR console to these persons and give them restrictions as described here: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... tml?ver=95 and https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... tml?ver=95. But the downside here is that they will see the jobs of other users also.

I personally would look at Enterprise Manager and see if that delivers you what you need.

Later this year, we will have a new solution called Veeam Availability Orchestrator that will give you much more granularity over this and a specific engine to build specific failover routines (and automated documentation for your DR plan for it)

Hope it helps
Mike

Mike,

I think I am going in the correct direction now thanks. I have Enterprise Manager running and created a user. That user can see all the other jobs in the jobs panel but can only control his jobs. Still haven't figured out how to give them access to fail over though. They really want to be able to control this them selves. But even when I am logged into the EM as a full administrator I do not see any fail over options.

Can you create a failover plan in B&R (You as an administrator) that has a single VM in it. After that, see if they see the failover option then
