My first backup and VM with AD & Exchange

Post by matviey » 1 person likes this post

Hi Veeam geeks

I have windows server 2008R2 with hyper-v

One of VM's is 2012SBS (AD + Exchange)

I purchsed veeam backup standard and I'm going to setup backup job for this VM (SBS 2012).
backup destination will be NAS Box with iSCSI target.

My questions:
- do i have to be aware about some difficult settings in veeam ?
- What's happen with exchange logs after full backup ?
- What's happen with exchange logs after incremental backup ?
- Is there anything what I schould set in veeam ? and later be able to fully recover exchange or Active Directory ?

Please guys, any help, I will appreciate.
it's my first time.

Hello Maciej,

There is nothing difficult, but make sure you enable application-aware image processing option in the backup job for this VM.

By default, all transaction logs are truncated, but you can control this behavior via advanced settings of the backup job.

The answer is the same as above.

No extra options are required except the setting I've mentioned in the first answer.

Hope this helps!
