NAS SMB Backup Repo Became Suddenly Unavailable

Post by angelolingad »

Hi guys,

I am having an issue with my NAS SMB Backup Repository that suddenly became unavailable.
If you will look at the screenshot of my Veeam, the two NAS repository is unavailable.

Please also note that I am able to access the NAS in the explorer

There is an error when i try to reconfigure the backup repo

The troubleshooting that I did was to restart the Veeam backup service but that did not work and the backup repo smb is still unavailable.
I also tried to put the backup repo in maintenance mode and remove it and it is still unavailable.

I have the same NAS smb backup repo setup on my other hyper-v and it was just cool and no issues.

Please help me on this issue as it is failing to backup my VMs because of this issue.

I haven't tried restarting the host because there are many services that will be affected and I am hoping that you will be able to help me and will be able to solve it without restarting the server.

Hi Angelo,

Could you please clarify your support case id? 02037930 seems to be the contract number but I couldn't find your case.

Also, did this problem happen suddenly or after some upgrades/patches installation on your environment? Which Backup&Replication version you use?

Thanks!

Hello,
backups only work if the repository is available. So that issue needs to be fixed. The REFS message looks strange to me. Windows servers that can do REFS should be added directly as Windows servers for performance reasons. 3rd party NAS boxes don't support REFS (maybe a firmware update on the NAS box was involved?).

I recommend continue working with support. Support case numbers start with 05... maybe you can post the correct case number again?

Thanks,
Hannes
