Need help decommissioning Enterprise Manager

Post by BobbyHood »

We're migrating to a net new Veeam environment and I need to decommission the old Enterprise Manager so I can set up the new one. Is there a Veeam-validated process for this? My plan is to just remove all the backup servers and vCenter servers from it then shut it down. Is there something else I need to be aware of? Will it impact licensing somehow? We will have both systems running side by side until the migration is complete so the licensing needs to stay active.

No, simply remove the entities from EM and you are good to go.

As far as I remember, removing backup server from Enterprise Manager does not revoke its license, so everything should be OK.

Thanks!

Thanks. I've confirmed that removing the VBR server does not revoke its license.

Good to know I did remember it correctly :)

Now you can easily decommision the previous EM server and gradually switch to new environment.

Thanks!
