Have a setup where the Veeam B&R 9 server is located offsite as is the backup repository. In addition to the Veeam B&R Server itself, we have a Veeam Proxy located onsite with the VMs being protected. We are using NBD (Network mode) for all proxies. All data between the sites is over a 60 Mbps VPN.
The backup jobs will run using either the Veeam B&R server (offsite) or the Veeam Proxy (onsite), I was just wondering if there was a best-practice?
Thanks,

Re: Network efficiency, proxy location
Hi,
The best option would be to create a repository on the main site and use it for primary backups while the offsite repo can be used for secondary backups. If that is not an option for you then please consider placing proxy as close to the production storage as possible. May I ask you why do you use NBD, is that a strict requirement for you? Please also check this link for details.
Thanks
