New NIC on Veeam machine

Post by trackstar »

Hello,

We are adding a new NIC to the machine and want traffic (backup to go through it). Do we have to do anything on the Veeam side?

I am assuming it will route automatically?

Thanks,
TT

Is this new NIC an additional NIC, or a replacement NIC? I am going to assume that it is a new additional NIC with a new IP on a different vLAN and you want the backup traffic to go out through that new NIC and on the new vLAN.

If you are running V8 there is now an option that will allow you pick a preferred network from the Blue Drop options menu (upper left hand corner).

I see the link for the preferred network. At this point, I am not sure yet. IF it is a replacement, I am thinking nothing needs to be done?

Provided everything is configured via FQDN/hostnames, replacing the NIC of the Veeam B&R server (which is effectively similar to changing the IP address) should not be a problem.
