Hello,
I am about to try Veeam for the first time. We just completed virtualizing our SBS2003 server with VMware converter and it resides on an ESXi5 host. I would like to get a full backup of the server weekly, using Veeam.
Is it OK make a Veeam backup on a production server running SQL server and Exchange? I would attempt to kick this off on Friday evening and let it run through the weekend when things are quiet. Will it make a complete backup and not have problems with files in use?
Just thought I would ask before I got myself in trouble.
Thanks,
John

Re: New to Veeam
John,
You can, just make sure you read up on page 39 of the Veeam Backup & Replication user guide (VMware or Hyper-V). It talks about Application Aware Image Processing which is important for VSS aware applications such as SQL or Exchange. You can download the guide via the link, in case you don't already have it - http://www.veeam.com/vmware-esx-backup/resources.html under User Guide.
I would also recommend watching this webinar about common mistakes when backing up Virtual SQL - http://www.veeam.com/videos/top-5-mista ... rs-71.html
Hope that helps! Welcome to the forums and the Veeam family!

Re: New to Veeam
Thanks for the tips.
I am using the free version to evaluate, Veeamzip.
should the option 'disable guest quiescence' be checked when backing up a system with Exchange and SQL running?
This should allow for the use of Windows VSS?
I don't see the option for "application-aware image processing" in free Veeamzip
