No email notification on restore jobs in V8?

Post by lukeroom »

Hello,

I don't seem to get any email / snmp notifications on restore jobs. The notification at backup jobs works fine.

I have read this topic:
http://forums.veeam.com/veeam-backup-re ... 21390.html

Have you worked on that feature in Version 8?

2. Question
Can i find the content of the "History" tab from the B&R Console on the B&R Recovery Windows file system?
I can find some information about a restore within the histoy tab but not all information that i need.

Why only the files that were restored with the Linux Single File Restore option "restores" is Displayed in the tab "statistics" within history tab and not the files are restored with the option "copy-to '?

thanks & regards

Hello Lukas,
There is no email notification options in UI, but you can easily create your OWN alarms for Veeam B&R if you have Veeam Availability suite. If not, you can monitor these task in the log.
Does it work for you?

Hi Shestakov,

thank you for your reply. We won´t use this feature for auditing.

In the evenlog i can´t find the source and the destination (sfr) or the servername (fullrestore) and what for a kind of restore was started.

Lukas,
Could you explain your use case of the restore notification necessity?

Destination and Restore type can be found under "Parameters" tab:

Thanks.

Good afternoon,

1. The Use case
We need to process the data on another tool to inform administrators. Therefore, we must be able to access the information on the filesystem.
email or snmp as the backup would also be good.

2. The Problem
The problem is, at a single file restore linux with the option "copy to" is the field statistic empty.
At full server restore all informations completly as you've posted correctly.

Lukas,
1. Got it. Thank you for the feedback, we will take it into account.
2. I guess, you mean "Copy to" option in Guest Files Restore. It`s a known issue. We recently stumbled on it.
Thanks!

Hi,

can the error with the "statistic Field" an the "copy-to option" be corrected in the next time?
Can we access the history (on a filesystem or with a Database connect) for sending notification Emails manually?

The issue with FLR restore "Statistics" field will be fixed. Not sure it will happen in the patch 1, since it`s going to be released soon; but in future releases most probably.
As I wrote in my first post of the topic, these tasks can be found in the log and by use of a script you can send notifications.
Thanks.

In the Windows event log can be found information about Veeam B&R activities.
You can use them as notifications for the restore jobs.
Short list of event IDs:

Code: Select all

Event ID Event Name
210 Restore session started
250 Restore vSphere task finished
251 Restore Hyper-V task finished
290 Restore session finished

510 File copy job started
590 File copy job finished
512 VM copy job started
592 VM copy job finished
More info here.
As I wrote, there is an issue with Guest File (Other OS) Restore type, so source/destination information can not be shown so far. Sorry for the inconvenience, it will be fixed in the next updates.
Thanks.

Hello Lukas,
As I wrote previously(Dec, 12th):

Since the issue was found just 2 weeks ago, our R&D didn`t have enough time to fix and test it. However it`s in the list for future releases. Thanks!
