Hello,
we're planing to move to a new VBR Server with new local backup storage. Now I'm thinking to go with REFS on the backup volume instead of NTFS with enabled dedup as of today.
My issue/question is if I have any option to migrate my current GFS backups who take up about 9TB but only 1TB deduped on the volume to the REFS without pumping the whole 9TB on the new volume/machine.
Thx
Daniel

Re: NTFS with dedup to REFS data migration possible?
Hi, Daniel - you can certainly migrate them to the ReFS volume, but you won't be able to preserve existing space savings while doing so. In order to achieve similar savings with ReFS, the GFS backups must be created by the job pointed to the ReFS volume. Thanks!
