Number of restore points

Hi,

Im learning veeam and have some questions regarding restore points.

I have created a job called "Backup Cluster" and have played around with it a couple of weeks, now it seems to be gooing ok for a while, I have configured it to have 7 restore points on disk.
But if i choose to do a restore I can see that the vm`s have 10 restore points, why is that ? will the old be deleted automatically ?

Hi, Andreas!
It can happen if you choose a basic incremental method. The oldest restore points can`t be deleted since they are part of the chain which newer points are still under retention protection.

Hi,

I have selected "Incremental (recommended) and Active Full backup once a week saturday"
I may have selected something else before, but I dont remember since I have played around with the job.
May be I should just wait and see if they will be removed automatically within the next week ?

Correct,
With the provided settings you will have 7 to 13 restore points during the week. If you want to have exact number of restore points in the repository in sake of space retrenchment, you can switch to Reverse Incremental or Forever Forward Incremental methods.
