Hello,
We use regular job backup for off site purpose over MPLS link. A full backup is done on source site on external encrypted hard drive, then moved manually on the destination site to the Veeam repository, and finally mapped in the offsite job on the source site. Has of now it s working not so bad
Last week we had to clone one of those VM because of a snapshot corruption, so the question is : do we need to re do a full backup of the "new cloned VM" or is Veeam actually so smart that is can re use precedent backup file without having to re send all data ?
Cheers,
Cédric

Re: Off site backup and vm cloning
Cedric, the cloned VM will have different moRef ID, so you will need to re-add the cloned VM to the job and map it to the existing backup.
Btw, why are you not using the backup copy job for offsite backup?

Re: Off site backup and vm cloning
Correct, backup copy jobs have been introduced in Veeam B&R v7 and were specifically designed with this scenario in mind.
