Offsite backup....and restore
Hi,
One of my clients want to use Veeam to backup his VMs from different sites.
The Veeam B&R server would be located in our datacenter. No Veeam on the client side. So all the backups would be offsite ones.
I'm not worried about that.
My question is: what about restoring VMs (we're talking TB for some) thru a WAN ? Is it something viable ?
Anyone in this situation with some good advice ?
Thanks !
Eric

Re: Offsite backup....and restore
Hello Eric,
As far as I understood the goal is to backup VMs from site B to site A, while VBR server and backup repository are located in site A.
VBR Server is used mostly for management. If you deploy Backup proxy and Backup repository, you won`t need to backup offsite, what can show much better performance.
Does it work for you or you want to backup offsite?
Thanks!

Hello Nikita,
Thanks for your response.
The client doesn't want any Veeam Server on his side. So my question was more about speed when it comes to restore from A to B.
Thank you.
Eric.

Re: Offsite backup....and restore
Thanks for the clarification, Eric.
The speed depends on bandwidth, hardware performance etc. WAN acceleration is very useful for offsite backup and replication jobs, but it doesn`t work for offsite restores.
Here is another related useful topic.
As I said it`s recommended to perform onsite backup if possible to achieve much better RTO. Thanks!
