One Weekly Full

Post by cowhow »

I have a backup job of secondary servers that only need backed up for DR purposes. That is, if a server gets dinged rather than rebuild it I can restore it. Based on that if I only run the backup job once a week with reverse incrementals with a retention of 5 restore points will that essentially give me a weekly full, or should I configure an active full once a week?

Tony, this will give you the latest restore point as full and 4 weekly points going back in time as incremental files (rollbacks). If you need each of the points stored as full, schedule active full to be performed every job run.

Perfect. That answers my question. None of these servers host any DBs. They just need periodic backups for DR in case someone.
