ONTAP 9.5 support?

Hi,

i know, ONTAP 9.5 is GA for only a few days but 2 of my customers already asked about Veeam compatibility.
We´ve got ONTAP 9.5 with Veeam running in our lab since ONTAP 9.5RC1 and hadn´t found any problems.

How long will it approximately take till it is officially supported?

Hi Daniel, so far we haven't seen any issues with ONTAP 9.5 internally as well and we're planning to run full regression tests against it in a month or so - after that we will be able to claim support officially. There will be one exception though, since there's one new feature that will require some development on our side (synchronous SnapMirror), so we're talking about ONTAP 9.5 support with this exception in mind. Thanks!

I think synchronous SnapMirror will take some time to get in the market...
So 9.5 support without it will be good enough for me...

I'm also interested in this official support.

I've upgraded both of my primary and secondary arrays from ONTAP 9.4 to 9.5P2 and all operations (backup, restore, snapmirror, snapvault) are working as normal, so there doesn't appear to be any major issues. However, I am not testing every single scenario.

I have a number of customers looking to move to ONTAP 9.5 as soon as possible since it is an LTS release.

We've finished verification and can now claim support for ONTAP 9.5 officially (with the only exception of synchronous SnapMirror). Thanks!

By mistake I use snapmirror synchronous in combination with veeam storage snapshots.

Veeam seem to work fine with it, but source snapmirror snapshots aren´t deleted.
A simple "snapmirror quiesce and snapmirror resume" fix this behavior until next veeam backup starts.

- Can you share your plans to support Snapmirror synchronous?
- Is it OK to schedule snapmirror quiesce and resume after the backup job?

Hi Christian, cannot share any particular ETA for Sync SnapMirror support. As for the suggested workaround, we also cannot comment as we have not tried this.
