OS Disk with Linux Hardened Repo
I have an old Dell server that I want to re-purpose for Linux hardened repository. It only has 8 slots for hard drive. I know the recommended way is to separate the OS and the storage to different disks. OS would be in Raid 1 SSD. Since I’m low in slots and need more storage size, I want to configure all the hard drives in one RAID 6 with the OS also on it. Would this affect the speed and what is the biggest con if I go this way. Thanks.

Re: OS Disk with Linux Hardened Repo
Depending on how old the Dell is, you might have the option to use NVME on add-in cards and leverage software RAID1 in the BIOS.

Alternative would be possibly to set up an LVM-based mirrored boot volume on the add-in card-based drives (w/ no bios-based "raid"), since you're already going with a Linux distro to build a LHR.
