[POLL] OS for Veeam B&R management server?
Hello everyone, I'd like to get an understanding of most commonly used operating systems. This information may help us with future release planning. Thank you!

Re: [POLL] OS for Veeam B&R management server?
Hi Anton, I'm seeing 2008 R2 is already ramping, but as a consultant I have many installations at customers, any way to submit multiple votes? I know on the other hand this could lead to fake results, so if you do not like never mind.
Probably I'm one of the few to run proxies on Core editions also, but if you are interested only about the central veeam server, that the poll is ok.
Luca.

Re: [POLL] OS for Veeam B&R management server?
If you are a partner doing implementations for other customers, please submit the most common choice.
Yes, I am only interested in central server - obviously, we want to keep widest Windows OS support for backup proxy servers and backup repositories for as long as we can, as often times these are installed on existing servers.
However, some new functionality requires us to start thinking about limiting OS support for central server. For example, Explorer for Exchange feature of 6.5 will require that backup server is running 64-bit OS (Windows 2008 or later) - and we are unable to change this because of requirements imposed by Microsoft components we are leveraging (so this is "done deal" pretty much, and we're just going to have to live with that).

Re: [POLL] OS for Veeam B&R management server?
I was trigger happy and clicked 64bit Server 2003, can someone change it to 32bit Server 2003
Also, are there any plans for a linux based management server?
As always, keep up the sterling work

Gostev - I don't see it up there as an option; I am using Windows Storage Server 2008 R2. The only reason I am replying with this is because I think I remember seeing it being officially listed as being supported in the system requirements of one of the past releases of Veeam. It is the OS that runs on the NAS that I bought for my backups (it has up to 3TB removable drives).

Darroch - even full board administrator cannot edit replies, but I guess this does not make much difference anyway... it is already getting pretty clear what vast majority of customers are using (top 2 options). And in 2013, even bigger percent of people will use top 2, plus Windows Server 2012.
No, Linux-based management server is not in our plans.
Wally and John - what you are using is just a flavor of Windows Server 2008 R2, so please use the top option to vote.

I will choose Windows 7 64bit over Server for cost saving. Best if Veeam runs on Linux or even as VM appliance. Help to save OS cost!
