I'm looking to start testing cloud vms for a few projects coming up. I haven't decided on Amazon,Azure, or Vmware yet.
But one of my big questions is how do I backup vms in the cloud?
We use Veeam onprem and get all the greatness (image and file level) features.
What options do I have for cloud vms?
thanks,jb

Re: OT: how to backup cloud vms
Hello Jason,
In order to backup cloud VMs, you should have compute resources purchased for backup proxy servers. Also you will need to add Hyper-V/ESXi host to the backup server to configure backup jobs. BTW, what connection link are you planning to have between your site and VMs in the cloud?
Thank you!

Re: OT: how to backup cloud vms
My understanding instead is Jason is running VMs in a cloud provider, and would like to backup "those" VMs with Veeam.
Veeam needs to get access to the underlying vSphere or Hyper-V infrastructure, but since that is an infrastucture owned by the service provider, it's up to the service provider itself to provide data protection, customers are usually not allowed to access the underlying resources.
If I understand correctly, I'd suggest to check for Veeam Service Providers, those are SPs that are using Veeam to offer data protection services in their infrastructures.
Luca.
