Partially move Veeam infra

Post by JHuston »

I'm not seeing my scenario laid out in the guides so I wanted to run it by the forum. I've moved Veeam infra before but it was a whole lift and shift, not a partial move.

I'm replacing part of my Veeam infrastructure as laid out below.

Site 1:
Veeam management server <-- rebuilt new mgmt server on new hardware
Veeam proxy/repo 1 <-- rebuilt new proxy server on new hardware
- Contains repository for site 1

Site 2:
Veeam proxy/repo 2 <-- this is staying
- Contains repository for site 2 ( most of my VM backups)

Instead of importing my current config into the new mgmt server since a majority of the veeam servers are changing:

-For site 1, since it's a small number of VM's and a new proxy with a new name etc, i'll probably just recreate the jobs and start new chains.
-For site 2, this contains almost all VM backup data. What is the best way to get this job/proxy/repo over to the new mgmt server? Can I add proxy/repo 2 to the new management server, recreate the jobs and map the backup files?

Thanks!

Yes, you can re-add proxy and repository servers to new management server and then perform the backup mapping procedure - should work fine. Thanks!
