Per-VM selction same meaning on SOBR and extent?

Post by rgmueller »

Hello,

I see a reference to per-VM on both the SOBR properties and the extent properties. The SOBR selection says "Use per-VM backup files (recommended)". Making me confused is there is also a selection for the extent that is a member of the SOBR: "Use per-VM backup files" (this same selection is there for standalone repositories.) Specifically for the SOBR and member extents, is there any difference between these two selections? What if I select one or the other? Or do they both have to be selected? I'm confused...

Hello,
in general the two settings do exactly the same. If you have a scale out repository, then the settings from the SOBR are applied.

See user guide section "The following settings are not inherited"

Best regards,
