Periodically backup SQL Logs in vCloud

Post by Maieu_san »

Hi All,

I have a question about taking log backups of an SQL server in vCloud.
We are a service provider who have a cloud an non-cloud environment.

For our own servers, non-cloud, we have periodical backup running for our SQL Servers. But for this to work we needed to open port range 2500 - 5000 (following documentation I've found).
For Servers that are in our management and behind our firewall this is not the biggest issue.

But I'm wondering, how do you fix this in vMware vCloud, where you're working with an edge gateway per customer..
Is there another way to do SQL Log backups in vCloud?

Anyone got any experience with this and can give me some tips?

thanks in advance!

Best regards

If network mode doesn't answer your requirements, you can stick to VIX mode, instead. Thanks.

Thanks for the quick response!

Is VIX mode chosen automatically then? Or do I need to do some manual changes in the job?

thanks!

No, nothing specific has to be done to the job. However, there are some requirements that has to be met. Please see this thread.

Thank you.

You can also inverse the protocol order so that VIX attempted first, using the InverseVssProtocolOrder registry setting.
