Possible bug? Able to add device with wrong hostname

Post by bgalante »

I don't know if this is a bug, but doesn't seem right.

I added a proxy to my environment, and it let me add the machine in with the wrong FQDN.

By accident, i added the server as myserver.mydomain.ORD instead of ORG, and it let me!
I realized my mistake when Veeam ONE gave me errors that it could not connect to the proxy to collect data.
But the proxy does work, and its backing up my vm's.

Strange, if you try to resolve this FQDN from a backup server, will that work? Thanks!

no, nslookup does not resolve the name from the backup server.

Looks strange, because between second and third step of "Add server" wizard backup server confirms connection to the specified server, using the selected name or address. It generates error, if connection cannot be established.

So, something must have wrong in your case. You can remove the proxy server and re-add it under proper name.

Thanks!
