Possible stupid question - AD/SQL wizards?
Hi,
We have just started using Veeam and are testing out some of the restore features.
When I run the restore wizard I see the option to restore from AD, Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint and "Other". I've successfully restored items directly to Exchange and Sharepoint - brilliant
But, when I choose Active Directory or SQL I see a message - "AD/SQL wizard is not installed. Do you want to download it?". If I click yes it takes me to a download page but I can't see any downloads for AD or SQL wizards on this page.
Where can I download these wizards?
Thanks in advance!

Ian, you can get the wizards through technical support. However I recommend you to upgrade to v8 (I assume you're still on v7, right?) to get the ability to use more powerful Veeam Explorers for Active Directory and SQL Server that replace the wizards in this release.

OK, but we only just installed v7 last week (v8 was released the day after it was installed!!).
Is the upgrade to v8 safe? We won't lose any of the configuration in the process?

Yes it is safe, free of charge and no configuration will be lost assuming you are on an active maintenance. Please read Veeam B&R v8 release notes. Thanks.

Good thread regarding whether it is safe to upgrade right now: Safe to upgrade from v7 to v8?
That said, there are some issues caused by invalid tape configuration during upgrade via Veeam B&R configuration backup/restore. However in-place upgrades are not affected.

Thanks, I've read over the upgrade instructions and it looks pretty straightforward apart from step 11:
Am I right in saying that I can just run the powershell script after the upgrade and that's it done?
Does the script disable and re-enable CBT?
I don't have to power any VM's off?
I've looked at the KB and don't like the thought of having to power down each VM to make the changes in the GUI.Reset CBT for all VMs in the environment. For more information, refer to Veeam support
article KB1940.

The script disables CBT (it will be enabled during the next job run) and you don't have to power VMs off.
Btw, here's a huge dedicated topic, just in case you are looking for details.

Re: Possible stupid question - AD/SQL wizards?
Hi Foggy
I have a client who is still under v7 and they have an urgent need to do table restore from SQL backup.
Lodged a support case 00815894 and was told by support (Marlene Prieto) that restore is only possible via UAIR / Surebackup.
Is this correct? Thanks

Yes, you should use SQL AIR Wizard for that.
