Possible to force end the job at a specific time?
Hello everyone,
i got a little question and haven't found a "real" answer yet...
This is the situation:
I've one costumer which uses cloudbackup as a second backup destination. It works well, no errors or something. But i want to let the backup end at a specific time so it won't affect the normal work for the users. Now i saw the option for "Periodically every X hours/days etc" which also works fine. In the schedule i configured the allowed time periods for the backup between 8pm and 8am.
Now to the "problem":
Even though i set the time to end at 8am the backup still runs normally after 8am, so it doesn't end the backupjob at this time. Is it possible to trigger Veeam B&R so that it stops the backup gracefully at a specific time?
I'm grateful for any hints

Hello and welcome to the community Johann,
Can you please clarify what type of job is that (agent backup or vmbackup)? Thanks!

Hello,
If you're talking about the backup window option and you see that job runs are not suppressed within the denied period, then I'd recommend to contact our support team and to share a support case ID for our reference.
Thanks!

Re: Possible to force end the job at a specific time?
Hi,
that‘s exactly what i did but the problem is that the backup isn‘t stopping automatically. If i watch the status at about 9am it‘s still active even with configured endtime at 8am.
There‘re no errors or warnings or something like that, it seems like it just doesn‘t get any trigger to stop the backup.
I think I‘m gonna contact the support on monday to open the case

Re: Possible to force end the job at a specific time?
The allowed period setting ("Schedule" button) configured for periodic type of schedule does not actually stop the job, if it keeps running after allowed time period is over - it just defines the time when a job can and cannot be started.
To forcefully terminate the job during specific time period, you need to enable "Terminate job if it exceeds allowed backup window" checkbox and configure backup window.
Thanks!

Re: Possible to force end the job at a specific time?
You're welcome, but be aware that this feature stops the job immediately (not gracefully), so it won't wait until currently running VM processing is finished. Other than that it should be exactly what you're after. Thanks!
