Problem booting VM Replica

I have a Windows 2012 R2 VM that is fit and healthy, but when I try and boot up the VM replica it fails to boot stating

"Your PC ran into problems and needs a restart. SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED"

Any ideas?

I don't know if you're using Hyper-v or VMware however it might be related.
