Pros and Cons of Reverse Incremental with Weekly Full

Post by JamesNT »

The subject says it all. I'm thinking about switching many clients over to that approach. The documentation sounds promising. However, what say you out in the field?

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Hello,
can you maybe explain why you want to do that? I never found a use case for the combination you are asking for.

In the other thread, you mentioned that you have performance issues.

So forward incremental with weekly / monthly active full is the way to go.

Best regards,
Hannes

Hannes,

I read somewhere on the Veeam site that reverse was recommended for some types of local backup devices but I can't seem to find that article now. Further, that article is probably out of date. Thank you for your recommendations.

Hello,
yes, that article is outdated. I would even like to remove reverse incremental from the product, because there are less and less valid use cases for it (agent backup for example does not even have it and nobody complained)

Best regards,
Hannes
