Question on automatic overwrite

Post by odyne »

Hi - we've been using Veeam for a few weeks now, and were impressed with the reverse incrementals, especially as we are backing up over network to a NAS. However, our VMs have ionceased in number and this backup method is too slow, until we can move to a direct SAN attached solution. Therefore we moved to active fulls & forward incrementals, but I'm unsure how to configure the job to automatically overwrite the full backups, so that I only ever retain 1 full backup, or 2 at worst. Is this possible as at the moment I'm running out of disk space?

Thanks

Hi, assuming you do daily backup with weekly full, you should reduce the retention policy to 7 days (or less). This will guarantee you will never have more than 2 full backups on your backup storage. Thanks!
